1. Introduction

The Link ("we," "us," or "our") operates a social platform at connecttolink.com that helps men connect through shared local activities. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide when you sign up:

• Your name (first and last)
• Email address
• Year of birth (used to confirm you are 18 or older)
• Your city, and approximate location coordinates for that city (used to show you nearby activities)
• Phone number, if you choose to provide one (optional)
• A password, which is stored in encrypted form by our authentication provider and is never visible to us

If you sign in with Google: we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. We do not receive your Google password or any other Google account data.

Information you add to your profile: a short bio, your interests, an optional profile photo you upload, and optional social media handles (Instagram, X, Reddit) if you choose to share them.

Information generated as you use the Platform: activities you post or join, RSVPs, messages you send in group and direct chats, posts and replies you make on the community Board, referrals, and basic usage events we log to understand how the Platform is used.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create and operate your account
• To show you relevant activities and events near your chosen city
• To connect you with other members through activities, chats, and the Board
• To send you transactional emails (account confirmation, password resets, notifications about activities you join or threads you post)
• To send you optional updates such as a weekly digest of activity in your area and first-week guidance emails, which you can unsubscribe from at any time
• To send you optional SMS reminders about activities, only if you check the SMS opt-in box (see Section 6)
• To maintain safety, enforce our Community Guidelines, and respond to reports
• To understand and improve how the Platform works

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

• With other members: your name, city, bio, interests, profile photo, any social handles you add, and your participation in activities and Board threads are visible to other signed-in members as part of the Platform's core function. Your email address, phone number, exact coordinates, and year of birth are never shown to other members.
• With service providers who operate the Platform for us: our hosting and database provider (Supabase), our email delivery provider (Resend), and our authentication provider (including Google, if you use Google sign-in). These providers process data only to provide their services to us.
• Event data providers: we display public event listings from third parties such as Ticketmaster and SeatGeek. Browsing these listings does not share your personal information with those providers.
• For legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our members or the public.

5. Location Information

When you select your city, we store the name of that city and the approximate latitude and longitude of that city's center so we can show you relevant nearby activities. We do not track your device's real-time GPS location. You may change your city at any time in your profile, and you can temporarily view other cities without changing your saved home city.

6. SMS Messages

Providing a phone number is optional. We will only send you SMS reminders if you affirmatively opt in by checking the SMS box during signup. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message or by removing your number from your profile. We do not share your phone number with other members or sell it to anyone.

7. Data Retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your private data — including your email, phone number, location, direct messages, and RSVPs. To preserve the integrity of community conversations, posts and replies you made on the public Board are kept but are anonymized so they are no longer linked to you (shown as "[Deleted]").

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including row-level security on our database, encrypted password storage, and restricted access to personal data, so that members cannot access one another's private information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to close any gaps we identify.

9. Your Choices and Rights

You can:

• Access and update your profile information at any time in the app
• Change or temporarily switch your city
• Unsubscribe from digest and guidance emails using the link in those emails
• Opt out of SMS at any time
• Block or report other members
• Delete your account, which removes your private data as described in Section 7

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data, such as the right to request a copy of it or to request its deletion. To make a request, contact us at info@connecttolink.com.

10. Children's Privacy

The Link is strictly for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor is using the Platform, please contact us immediately.

11. Cookies and Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember preferences such as unsent message drafts and whether you've seen the welcome screen. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Platform evolves. We will post changes here and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
