COMMUNITY
GUIDELINES
Last updated: April 3, 2026
The Link exists to help men build real friendships through shared activities. These guidelines exist to keep the community safe, respectful, and focused on that mission.

The golden rule: Show up, be real, respect the bros. Everything else follows from that.

1. Be Respectful

Treat every member of the community with respect, regardless of background, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or ability. The Link is built on the idea that men from all walks of life can connect through shared interests — that only works if everyone feels welcome.

  • No hate speech, slurs, or discriminatory language
  • No bullying, harassment, or personal attacks
  • No threats of violence or intimidation
  • Disagree respectfully — it's okay to have different opinions

2. Keep It Real

The Link works because people show up as themselves. Authenticity is the foundation of real friendships.

  • Use your real name and accurate profile information
  • Don't impersonate other people or create fake accounts
  • Be honest about your interests and skill levels — nobody expects you to be a pro
  • If you commit to an activity, show up. Reliability builds trust.

3. Show Up

The whole point of The Link is getting off the screen and into real life. Your reliability score reflects how consistently you follow through.

  • If you join an activity, make a genuine effort to attend
  • If something comes up, let the group know in the chat — don't ghost
  • Repeated no-shows may affect your visibility and trust score on the Platform

4. This Is Not a Dating App

The Link is specifically designed for platonic friendships and group connections. Using the Platform for romantic or sexual purposes violates the community's trust and purpose.

  • No romantic solicitation or sexual content in messages, profiles, or activities
  • No using activities as a cover for dating or hookup intentions
  • Report anyone who makes you uncomfortable with unwanted advances

5. Keep Activities Safe

When organizing or joining activities, prioritize safety for yourself and others.

  • Choose public, well-lit locations for meetups, especially with people you haven't met before
  • Don't organize activities involving illegal substances or illegal behavior
  • Be mindful of physical safety during sports and fitness activities
  • Don't pressure anyone into activities they're uncomfortable with
  • If an activity involves alcohol, keep it responsible

6. No Spam or Self-Promotion

The Link is for connecting with people, not selling to them.

  • No posting activities that are actually advertisements or sales pitches
  • No MLM, pyramid scheme, or business recruitment content
  • No unsolicited promotion of products, services, or external platforms
  • Sharing genuine event recommendations (concerts, games, etc.) is totally fine

7. Protect Privacy

Respect the privacy of everyone in the community.

  • Don't share other users' personal information (phone numbers, addresses, photos) outside the Platform without their consent
  • Don't screenshot or share private messages publicly
  • Don't record or photograph activities and share them without participants' permission

8. Reporting

If you see something that violates these guidelines or makes you feel unsafe, report it. We take every report seriously.

  • Use the in-app reporting feature (coming soon) or email us at [contact email]
  • Reports are confidential — we won't reveal who reported
  • False or malicious reports are themselves a violation of these guidelines

9. Enforcement

We enforce these guidelines progressively based on severity:

⚠️
Warning
First-time minor violations — you'll receive a notice explaining what happened
⏸️
Temporary Suspension
Repeated violations or moderate offenses — account paused for a set period
🚫
Permanent Ban
Severe violations (harassment, threats, illegal activity) — immediate and permanent removal

We reserve the right to take immediate action for severe violations without prior warning.

10. Our Commitment

We're building The Link because we believe men deserve better tools for building real friendships. These guidelines aren't about control — they're about creating the kind of space where showing up feels easy and worthwhile. We'll keep evolving these as the community grows.
